I

I

CHAPTER VII - PROJECT EVALUATION

I

This project is proposed to rehabilitate an existing storage
facility for The North Poudre Irrigation Company. The majority
of water in the North Poudre System is for agricultural irrigation

I

use.

I

I
I

The Rehabilitation of Reservoir No. 15 will allow the Owners to
store approximately 5,560 acre-feet. Current restriction by the
Colorado State Engineer reduces storage to 4,910 acre-feet.. This
restriction has bccn effective since approximately 1976. It IS
estimated that in the future restrictions would Curther reuuce
storage to 3,264 acre-feet.

I

I

The following chart was prepared to illustrate storage 1n Reser-
voir No. IS over the next 20 years without the rehabilitation pro-
ject. This chart was preparcd by mysclf, Jackie Malcolm, and is
based on the observed rate of deterioration over the last 10 years,
the elevations of the existing toes, and a comparison of dam thick-
ness at the stated storage elevations. It is my opinion that were
no work at all completcd on the cmbankment that restrictions 00uld
be accelerated beyond those stated herein; meaning more severe
restrictions would be imposed sooner. In order to maintain the
following schedule, certain repairs and maintenance cost should
be contemplated. These would include such items as repair existing
outlet, construct new downstream drop structure and parshall flume,
emergency access, and additional riprap.

I
I

I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I

1986

1996
2006
2016

Gage Rod
Elevation - Fect

38.0

36.0

34.0

obsolete

Storage
Acre - Feet

Ycar

4337

3786
3264 .

-0-

This chart illustrates that after 20 or 30
would be obsolete and at that time require

years, the Reservoir
a major rehabilitation

28
