I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

OUTLET WORKS

In order to compare outlet works alternatives, a rough estimate
of the discharge capacity curve of the following outlet arrangements
were prepared:
1. The exi.st.; ng outlet
2. The repair to the existing outlet as contemplated
3. A new 48" diameter reinforced concrete p1pe outlet works
4. A new 42" di.ameter reinforced concrete p1pe outlet works

Repair Existing

A scheme is proposed to repair and reinforce the existing outlet
from the interior. This contemplates providing anchors into the
existing interior perimeter of the outlet, placing of reinforcing,
and guniting the interior 5 inches thick.

The intake at the reservoir would require rebuilding in order to
meet the proposeu earth cross-sections. The flatter slopes re-
quire additional lengths of conduit on the upstream section.

The downstream urop basin woulu require modifications, and the
existing Parshall Flume needs to be replaced and relocated far-
ther downstream.

The repa1r of the existing outlet would limit the hydraulic capacity
of the outlet. Also, consideration should be given to the fact
that the life expectancy of a repair job is such that periodic in-
spection and future additional repair work may be required.

I
I
I
I
I
I

New Outlet Works

The alternative of constructing an entirely new outlet works is
included. This would include breaching the existing dam, removing
all existing structures, and constructing a new 42" diameter rein-
forced concrete outlet works.

New structures would include an intake trash rack structure at the
reservoir end, with a 42" slope face gate; a 42" reinforced con-
crete pipe conduit on a rein[orceu concrete craule; a g<Jte tower 1n

12
