The part of the vater that is used l"lest of Iron Creek is
released into the creek above Gould Reservoir and flows thro~1 the res-
ervoir to the Savage-Tracy ditch and other smaller ditches. The D,yer Fork
ditch, O,lI1ed by an association of irrigators, diverts water to Iron Creek
lands from Dyer Forl,. Dyer Fork ilitch, being higher in elevation than '
Cattlemens ditch, serves Upper Iron Creek lands and passes east of Gould
Reservoir to also serve Lover Iron Creel, landS.

Another major diversion from Crystal Creek is made by the Fruitland
ditch of the Fruitland Irrigation Company. This ditch irrigates small
areas of Upper Iron Creek and Upper Fruitland Mesa lands and supplies
;Tater to Gould Reservoir and the Gould Canal. The Gould Canal, also
owned by the Fruitland Irrigation Company, distributes reservoir vater
to irriGate lands on Lo.ler Fruitland Mesa and in Red Canyon. The Crystal
Valley ditch diverting from Crystal Creek serves valley lands adjacent
to that creek. It is o'med by one individual.

The area presently irrigated under each ditch is shown belml.

.

Ditch and location
of lands served
Cattlemens ditch
Upper Iron Creek
Lower Iron Creel,
Dyer Forl, ditch
Upper Iron Creek
Lower Iron Creek
Fruitlana, ditch
Upper Iron Creek
Upper Fruitland Mesa
Louer Frui tland ~lesa
Red Canyon
Crystal Valley ditch

Axea served
(acres)

100
1,620

500
70

150
60

and

3,800
630
Y6,930
Y Does not include 140 acres of
lo.~r Iron Creek lands ;Thich uill be
inundated by the Crawford Reservoir of
the authorized Smith Fork project and 80
acres which are excluded from the Fruit-
land Mesa :project area because they are
fully irrigated from Muddy Creek, a trib-
utary of Iron Creek.

Domestic and stock water

.

During the nonirrigation season water is diverted continuously tlurough
the Cattlemens ditch and intermittently through other ditches to provide
stock water for farms of the area.
