The pump station would utilize multiple pumps to match demand,
and an alternate power source for emergencies would be provided.

/

Alternatives Considered

Taking into account all of the possible combinations of the raw water reservoir, water
treatment plant, and treated water storage at the three sites results in nine potential
alternatives as shown in Table 3.2.

TABLE 3.2 POTENTIAL SITING ALTERNATIVES
Alt # Wiggins Bijou Fort Morgan
1 RWT
2 RW
3 RW
4 R
5 R
6

7
8
9

T

T

WT
W
RWT
RW
R

T

T
WT
RWT

Where:
R = Raw Water Reservoir
W = Water Treatment Plant
T = Treated Water Storage

Alternative number 4 was removed from further consideration because there was no
hydraulic advantage over alternative number 6 since water cannot maintain pressure
through a water treatment plant. Alternative number 5 was eliminated because it
requires building facilities in three different locations which would complicate
construction and operation. After the elimination of these two possibilities, the
remaining eight alternatives were renumbered and considered for further evaluation.

MONTGOMERY WATSON

Page 3-7
