Lile, PE. <br />Director, eWeB <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: July 15, 1997 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Agenda Item 26.a., July 21-22, 1997 Board Meeting - Water Project <br />Construction Loan Program - Previous Loan Authorizations - City of <br />Fort Morgan - Water Project Update <br /> <br />Background <br />At the May Board meeting, City of Fort Morgan staf!made an oral and video presentation <br />to the Board on the City's proposal to replace its existing ground water supply with an <br />entirely new system utilizing Colorado-Big Thompson Project water through the Southern <br />Water Supply Project. To date, the Board has invested $5.5 million to finance a portion <br />of Fort Morgan's participation in the Southern Water Supply Project pipeline which <br />originates at Carter Lake and has been completed to the vicinity of Fort Lupton (about 50 <br />miles west of Fort Morgan). <br /> <br />The total cost of the Fort Morgan water system replacement project is now estimated at <br />about $39 million. In addition to the $5.5 million Construction Fund loan, Fort Morgan <br />has obtained $2.5 million in financing from the Colorado Water Resources & Power <br />Development Authority. The City is in need of approximately $31 million in financing to <br />complete the project. Table 1 gives a breakdown, by project component, of the $31 <br />million cost estimate for completion of the project. <br /> <br />Table 1.
