I :,

TOWN OF IGNACIO

p, O. Box 459 . IGNACIO. COLORADO 81137
Phone: 563-9494

October 11, 1994

Mike Serlet, P.E,
Planning and Construction Sec~ion
colorado Water Conservation Board
721 State Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203

Dear Mr, Serlet,

Thank you for the information and letter dated September 21, 1994.
'.This"letter'is to forinaliy requefl:t .extension:of: the, completion date
:for', the, raw ,water pipelirie;.bElilig,:inst"a-lled ,by.: the.,ToWn: of,.rgnaCiio:
This summer was not as productive as we would have liked. We had
two of the men involved in ttIe installation of the line in the
hospital and out of work for a combined total of fifty six (56)
days. Neither one of them were injured on the job but none the
less had complications (one p,n appendectomy the other prostate
problems) which prohibited them from working. Due to the extreme
rocky condition and the many service lines of the downtown area
where we started installing the pipeline, work has moved very slow.
Enclosed is a map marked with red and blue lines, The red lines
indicate the pipe that has been installed to date. We do
anticipate installing the additional four hundred twenty five (425)
feet in the area highlighted in pink before we stop for the winter,

Work on the pipeline although behind schedule is proceeding well.
There are upwards of fifty (50) homes which will have water
available to them from this system next spring when it warms up
enough to turn on the system. The same crew which I have
installing the pipeline must 31so be pulled to do meter reading,
service taps, gas line maintenance, street maintenance and all
other operational duties required to keep a small town like ours
functional.

We believe an additional two years will be needed to complete the
project. Once we move up on the heights West of town, work should
move much faster as we will not have the extreme rocky conditions
or myriad of old service lines which we have in the old downtown
area may of them unidentified. Thank you in advance for your
consideration of this request.

Sincerely,
4./~

~se B. Quintana
Town Manager

ATTACHMENT 1
