Paula Herzmark Executive Director Dear Paula: We appreciate very much your approval of $12,000 for the Grand Mesa Water Conservancy District. I know that this project was not well received by the Advisory Committee so your support and approval is especially appreciated. The cost of the feasibility study will be $33,400. The District will borrow 50% of the total, or $16,700 from the Water Conservation Board. We had requested $16,700 from the Impact Fund and were granted $12,000. The Advisory Committee indicated they felt there should be more local participation, and we have been able to obtain a committment from the County for an additional $3,100 for a total of $15,100. This amount leaves us $1,600 short of the required amount. I would like to ask your further indulgence to approve the additional $1,600. Even though we have increased our mill levy the full 7% each year for the last eight years it only raises a small amount of money I~hich we use for normal maintenance and operations. In addition, I~e are trying to conserve a small amount of those funds this year to provide travel and expense monies for next year because we feel that we will be required to make a number of trips to Denver to '~ork with the Water Board and its staff on the construction of the project. It would be most helpful if you could augment our initial grant award.
