To fund this portion of the project, <br />we have applied for assistance to both the State Soil Conservation Board and the EP A in our 319 <br />grant application. <br /> <br />IV. Conclusion <br /> <br />Completion of the Winter 99-2000 project provides an example of the progress towards completion <br />of our restoration objectives of decreasing erosion and returning the water table to its original level. <br />We have positioned ourselves to begin the major reconstruction work that is needed. We see a clear <br />direction in the steps that are needed and have chosen the best alternatives. The Alamosa River <br />provides a major water source for both irrigation purposes and recreational opportunities. Once we <br />reach our goal of long-term stability for the River, stability win also return to the livelihoods of the <br />many people in the surrounding communities. With your assistance, our prospects for success <br />improve greatly. <br /> <br />6 <br />
