<br />Feasibility of the Repair <br />of the <br />Bravo Ditch Company Diversion <br /> <br />Project Sponsor <br /> <br />The Bravo Ditch Company (BDC) is a Colorado Mutual Ditch Company <br />and a Non-profit Corporation, Articles of Incorporation and <br />Bylaws are included in Appendix A, <br /> <br />The company's facilities, are located on the South Platte River <br />about 5 miles north east of Sterling. They consist of a <br />diversion structure and headgate to divert water into the <br />delivery ditch, a turnout for the Farmer's Ditch, and <br />approximately 5 miles of ditch, The ditch has a capacity of 40 <br />cfs with an ability to supply about 80 ac-ft of water per day <br />during the irrigation season, <br /> <br />The BDC also carries water for the Farmers Ditch. Farmer's <br />compensates the BDC by paying 1/3 of the annual cost of <br />construction of the temporary sand dams needed for diversion, <br />under an informal agreement. <br /> <br />Project Service Area <br /> <br />The service area of the BDC includes approximately 990 acres'of <br />farmland in Logan County. Irrigated crops consist of alfalfa, <br />sugar beets, pinto beans, wheat, and corn, <br /> <br />Need for the Project <br /> <br />The BDC is undertaking this project to continue to provide <br />irrigation water to its shareholders, and for the Farmer's Ditch, <br />for the irrigation of crops, <br /> <br />The concrete portion of the BDC diversion structure, originally <br />100 feet in width, was severely damaged during the 1995 flood. <br />Flood water undermined the structure, and one wing wall and about <br />40 feet of the structure collapsed into the hole.
