<br />Atthe time the contract waS signed, it was contemplated that the District would have to buy
<br />landto,construct at least part of the recharge project. Howe:ver, an ideal site was found near a lateral
<br />of the Rio Grande Canal on State owned land. It was possible to'lease the State land at minimal
<br />cost.
<br />
<br />The District also received additional help when the Bureau of Rec1amation, through their
<br />Technical Assistance to States Prograin, drilled six observation wells near the recharge site on State
<br />land at a cost of over $65,250, Steve Vandiver, Division Engineer for Water Division 3, Colorado
<br />Division of Water ResOlrrces, Using Senate Bill 200 monies, furnished three recorders for
<br />monitoring observation wells,
