<br />Costs were estimated for the concrete vertical drop, the sheet pile vertical drop and the sloping
<br />riprap drop check structures mentioned previously, Construction cost estimates are presented in
<br />Table 2, The sheet pile option is preferred over the concrete wall option because the estimated
<br />cost of $76,000 to $97,300 is 28 to 33 percent less than the other two alternatives. The concrete
<br />vertical drop is estimated to cost $106,400 to $140,300. The sloping riprap drop is estimated to
<br />cost $113,200 to $145,700. Of the two vertical drop alternatives, the sheet pile option is believed
<br />to be the easiest to construct in the river environment. It does not require dewatering to install, and
<br />then serves as its own coffer dam for dewatering the riprap basin area. It can also be constructed
<br />during inclement weather more easily than can concrete,
