~.. . ~

.

.

Irri~ation Water Sunnlv

The principal benefit of the San Miguel Canyon Project is the revenue derived from power generation. An
additional benefit associated with its installation would be the potential for providing a new source of irrigation
water. Supplemental irrigation water could be diverted from the upper reservoir of the San Miguel Canyon
Project. For the purpose of evaluation, a quantity of 6.400 acre-feet per year was assumed to be carried from
the reservoir in a new canal of 35 cis capacity to the east and south across Maverick Draw to supplement Gurley
(distribution) Ditch deliveries to the Norwood - Redvale .ervice area.

Summarv

The reconnaissance-level investigation of the San Miguel Canyon Project conducted indicates that the pumped
storage hydropower site identified has excellent potential for development. Preliminary operational and cash
flow analysis indicates that substantial revenue could be derived from power generated. Additional benefits
derived from supplying supplemental irrigation water are also possible. Further study at a greater level of detail
will be required to more fully evaluate the development potential of the San Miguel Canyon Project.

Page 6
