<br />The mast reliable data is availoble in the last ten years but <br />these figures are also difficult to correlate to develop a reason- <br />able operation model of Summit Feservoir. <br /> <br />Table IV-A shows an operation study for Summit Reservoir. <br />The inflow figures come from the State Engineer's records for <br />Turkey Creek Ditch and ~ost Canyon Ditch. The values for "outlet" <br />under "outflow", also come from.the State Engineer's records. The <br />outlet gage is just below the outlet works; the outlet ditch has a <br />maximum capacity of 40 cfs. <br /> <br />The "other" column under outflow is a catchall number to make <br />the end-of-month contents balance. .Reservoir records show what <br />the reservoir capacity was each winter and if the reservoir filled <br />in the spring. The recorded values of inflow, outflow, and reser- <br />voir capacity were assumed to be fairly accurate the the extra <br />water was put in the "other" column. The gage on Tm;key Creek <br />Ditch is at the inlet to Joe Moore Reservoir rather than Summit <br />and a lot of water is used for irrigation or lost to seepage <br />between the two reservoirs. The extra water also could be the <br />result of spills through the spillway (which are not measured) , <br />evaporation, seepage, inaccuracy in the gages, and inaccuracies in <br />the capacity of the reservo{r. <br /> <br />As can be seen in Table IV-A, there is <br />water in the "other" column in some years. <br />exactly where the extra water goes would be <br />included herein. <br /> <br />a large <br />Studies <br />'.lengthy <br /> <br />quantity of <br />to determine <br />and are not <br /> <br />Table IV-A, though not accurate, does give.a general idea of <br />the water supply produced by Summit Reservoir. The best year <br />was 1982 when the reservoir yielded nearly 8000 AF. Using 1977 to <br />show the safe yield is probably too conservative because it is <br />about a once in 100 years occurrence. The yield in 1973 and 1981 <br />better represents the safe yield of Summit Reservoir which is <br />about 3700 AF. <br /> <br />-13- <br />
