<br />UPDATE TO PRELIMINARY ENGINEERING REPqRT, <br /> <br />TOWN OF STARKVILLE WATER FACILITY <br /> <br />A. AREA TO BE SERVED <br /> <br />The incorporated Town of Starkville, Colorado <br /> <br />lies approximately 1 1/2 miles south of Trinidad, <br /> <br />Colorado toward Raton Pass. It lies in the rather <br /> <br />narrow valley of Raton Creek with hills rising <br />sharply on both sides of Raton Creek. The Atchison, <br /> <br />Topeka and Santa Fe main line double track railroad <br /> <br />bisects the town. The mean elevation is about <br /> <br />6,400 feet. The unofficial 1980 population of <br /> <br /> <br />Starkville is approximately 225 people with ap- <br /> <br /> <br />proximately 80 homes habitable and approximately ) <br /> <br />20 houses in various states of disrepair and un- <br /> <br />occupied. The building count was taken in the <br /> <br />field on December 4, 1980. <br /> <br />A dimensioned plat map dated October 29, 1941 <br /> <br />was obtained from the Las Animas County Assessor's <br /> <br />Office, which is identified as Carbonvale or <br />. <br /> <br />Starkville plat map.
