Purpose of Feasibility Report. Application has been made by the
Ridges Metropolitan District to the Colorado Water Conservation Board for
state funds to construct a water resource project. The Board has requested
a feasibility study be made.

2. Purpose of the Project. The Ridges Metropolitan District is responsi-
ble for providing water, sewer, and recreational facilities for 816 acres
southwest of Grand Junction, Colorado in Mesa County. The area is under a
continuing development program. Streets, water and sewers exist in the de-
veloped area. The master plan for the area calls for a separate water sys-
tem from the domestic system to supply irrigation water requirements.

The purpose of this project is to deliver irrigation water through a sepa-
rately designed water delivery system. The system will have the capability
of providing irrigation waters to each individual lot within the service
area. The location of this project is within the confines of the Ridges
Metropolitan District located in the Redlands area of Grand Junction (see
Figures I-A and I-B). This project is needed to provide irrigation water to
individual lots within the service area and thereby make more water avail-
able through a completely separate water system. This will conserve potable
water through increased irrigation efficiency.

.

3. Summary Description of the Project. The overall irrigation water plan
is illustrated in Figure I-C. Two secondary reservoirs with pumping facili-
ties are presently in operation utilizing temporary water sources and distri-
bution lines which will become a part of the proposed system.

The proposed irrigation facilities for which funds are being requested in-
cludes:

- An intake structure and pump station located on the south bank
of the Redlands Power Canal Tailrace.
Two l6-inch transmission lines from this pump station to State
Highway 340.
- Two primary storage reservoirs and associated pump stations.
- A segment of the l6-inch line between the two primary reservoirs.

The following facilities which are a part of the overall system are exist-
ing:

- Two secondary reservoirs with pump stations.
- Two l6-inch lines from State Highway 340 to primary reservoir
No.3 (Gardner Lake).
- A segment of the l6-inch line between the two proposed primary
reservoirs.
- Distribution lines under paved streets.

I - I
