I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Feasibility of the Rehabilitation
of a portion of the
Farmers Independent Ditch

Project Sponsor

The Farmers Independent Ditch Company (FIDC) is a Colorado Ditch
Company and a Non-profit corporation. Articles of Incorporation
and Bylaws are included in Appendix A. The FIDC has 62
shareholders.

Project Service Area

The service area is located in Weld County, approximately 8 miles
south of Greeley. Lands served are mostly flat, and at an
elevation of about 4,800 feet. FIDC serves 7500 acres of
agricultural land, all under flood irrigation. See map on
page 2.

Need for the Project

I
I
I
I
I
I

The FIDC is undertaking this project to resolve a problem that
exists along the ditch in the north 1/2 of Section 11, T4N, R65W.
At this location, in front of several residences along 35 Road,
the ditch passes through series of pipes and box culverts with
nominal dimension of just 24 inches. These pipes are big enough
to pass the decreed ditch flow at this point (10 CFS) , but are
too small to handle storm water. Flooding of the residences
occurs during severe rain events. In addition, the pipes and
culverts are in poor condition, and need replacement.
