Dam Site <br /> <br />The climate at Santa Maria dam is strongly influenced by the high <br />elevation and mountainous terrain. Frost can occur at any time during <br />the year. The short summers are generally cool and the area is <br />affected by occasional thunderstorms. The winters are long and <br />snowfall is significant. Table I-I shows the average snow depth and <br />water content for the Santa Maria snow depth measuring station located <br />near the Santa Maria dam at elevation 9,700 feet.
