The study
and report were prepared for the Santa Maria Reservoir Company by

Hydro~Triad, Ltd.

This report sets forth the need plus the technical and economical

feasibility of this project to mitigate seepage problems at Santa

Maria Dam, thereby removing the current storage restriction of 32,000
acre~feet and restituting more than 11,000 acre-feet of storage
capacity. Seepage mitigation is provided by the addition of an imper-
meable clay liner placed on the upstream face of the embankment to
blanket the locations identified during the geotechnical investiga-
tions as areas of seepage.

The estimated cost of the project is about $225,000 (1988

dollars) and the present worth of the benefits far exceeds the costs.

The benefit cost ratio is 3.1. Indirect benefits of the project have

not been quantified but include storing out-of-priority water for Rio

Grande Compact admi ni strati on purposes.

The reservoi r is a pre-

Compact reservoir.

- i i -
