CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

.

After the Notice of Initiation of Investigation of the Dominguez
Reservoir Project was issued, and in response to community interest in
the project, a formal sponsoring agency was sought. It was suggested
that the water-using entities within the project area agree on a single
entity which would be the contracting agency for all of the water users
within the potential benefit area of the project.

Accordingly, on February 13, 1979, the Mesa County Commissioners
agreed to act as the official sponsoring and contracting entity. To aid
them in this effort the Commissioners established the Mesa County Domin-
guez Reservoir Advisory Council. The Advisory Council consists of a
representative( s) from the Mesa County Commissioners, Grand Junction
Area Chamber of Commerce, Ute Water Conservancy District, city of Delta,
Redlands Water and Power Company, city of Grand Junction, Delta County,
Delta Chamber of Commerce, Home Water Supply Company, Inc., of the White-
water community, town of Palisade, Clifton Water District, and town of
Fruita. The Advisory Council has fostered public involvement and has
distributed information on the project.

.

.

5
