The
West Divide Project rights, which are currently held by the
Colorado River Water Conservation District, are listed for refer-
ence in Table IV-7.

Diligence in perfecting the conditional West Divide Project rights
has been timely demonstrated to, and confirmed by, the courts and
the rights are currently in good standing. The latest diligence
decrees list the total capacities of the features as well as other
project features, including the P1acita, Osgood and Avalanche power
plants and Garfield Tunnel, which are not shown in Table IV-7. Only
the specific decreed appropriations of water from the Colorado River
basin, excluding the Gunnison River, are listed in Table IV-7. The
West Divide Project decreed direct diversion rights from Lee Creek
and the Clear Fork of Muddy Creek in the Gunnison River basin have
not been listed. In July 1979 the West Divide Water Conservancy Dis-
trict filed an application under Case No. 79CW194 for additional
storage of 2,610 AF in Kendig Reservoir.

A portion of the 830 cfs direct diversion right for the Avalanche
Canal and Siphon would be transferred to the South Rifle Division
water system intake, The yield available under a 185 cfs portion
of the Avalanche Canal and Siphon right was indicated in Table IV-6.

WATER QUALITY

Water quality data for the Colorado River in the vicinity of Rifle
is somewhat limited.
