I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Reservoir via the Louisville Lateral ditch with the remaining 622 acre-feet
requiring pumping for the total utilization of storage.
4. Harper Lake - Alternate II - Alternate II is a modification of the design
for Alternate I. The crest elevation is lowered by 5 feet and the shore line
of the reservoir modified to accommodate plans for residential development in
the vicinity of Harper Lake. A residential developer owns the land proposed
for expansion of Alternate II and would contribute land to the City of Louisville
through a negotiated agreement in return for any derived benefits. The capacity
would be maintained similar to that of Alternate I by expanding the reservoir
area further to the southeast and excavating an additional five feet lower than
the existing bottom of Harper Lake. The embankment would not completely
encircle the reservoir but would match the existing grade at elevation 5610 feet.
The reservoir would provide approximately 715 acre-feet of water storage with
a depth of 18 feet from the normal high water line to the bottom of the lake.
Maximum water surface area would be about 42 acres. A site plan and details are
shown on Figures 7 and 7A.
The proposed lake bottom would ~e at elevation 5587 feet with the high
water line at elevation 5605 and the embankment crest at elevation 5610 feet,
providing the 5 feet of freeboard required by the office of the State Engineer.
As with Alternate I, this alternate ~ould require review and approval by the
State Engineer's office before construction due to the water surface area and
embankment height. All water stored by this alternate would have to be pumped
lifted into the Louisville Lateral for delivery to Louisville Reservoir.
5. Harper Lake - Alternate III - Alternate III would consist of excavation
of a reservoir west of the Louisville Lateral and east of 80th Street as shown
on Figure 8. The sides of the reservoir would be clay lined but an embankment
would not be necessary. The reservoir would provide approximately 280 acre-feet
of water storage with a depth of 18 feet when filled to the normal high water line.

36

.------. - -----.------ ,.. ------~--
