Water usage in 1981 totaled 1,333 acre-feet. (See Table 3)
Using population estimates obtained from the City of Louisville planning
staff, the monthly water use data was converted into an equivalent number of
gallons per capita per day on a monthly basis as shown in Table 4. Average
annual per capita water use for the years 1979 through 1981 was 195 gallons
per capita per day (gcd). Water usage in 1981 averaged 206 gcd.
2. Population Projections
Population estimates for the City of Louisville through the year 2000
are shown on Figure 3. The current population of the City of Louisville as of
April 1982 was 5,862 based on information provided by the City Planning Staff.
The ultimate theoretical population of the City of Louisville in the year 2000
is projected at 17,000 based on information provided by the Denver Regional
Council of Governments and the City Planning Staff. A straight line approximation
for growth between 1982 and 2000 was used due to uncertainties as to the actual
growth rate. This would correspond to an annual rate of growth of 6.6%.
Although the annual growth rate between April 1980 and April 1982 was only
approximately 2.4%, the annual growth rate between the period of July 1977 and
April 1980 was approximately 18.4 percent which is much higher than the projected
growth rate.
3. Future Requirements
Based on an average annual water consumption of 225 gcd to cover all
raw and treated water transportation losses and using the population estimates
shown in Figure 3, the ultimate raw water demand by the City of Louisville in
the year 2000 will be approximately 4,280 acre-feet per year.

12
