The
lateral is also used to convey water stored in Marshall Lake to Louisville
Reservoir.
The City's water filter plant complex is located on Davidson Mesa immediately
east of Louisville Reservoir. The complex consists of two filter plants, the
original plant which has a rated capacity of 3.5 mgd under normal operating
conditions and a newer plant which went into operation in the fall of 1979
with a capacity of approximately 2 ~gd for a combined capacity of 5.5 mgd
under normal operating conditions. . The two plants supply treated water by
gravity to about 80 percent of the City's existing population. However, one
pump zone has been established to serve a high area around the Hillsburough
West Subdivision.
2. Proposed Facilities
The City is planning construction of a raw water pipeline which will convey
water from the outlet works of Marshall Lake approximately 1-1/4 miles to a
proposed water treatment plant to be constructed near the intersection of State
Highway 93 and U.S. Highway 36. The proposed pipeline will have a capacity of
10 mgd and will allow the city the flexibility of making winter releases of water
stored by contract in Marshall Lake. The proposed water treatment plant will have
a capacity of 2 mgd during phase 1 with a final size of 10 mgd. The proposed
pipeline and water treatment plant are planned for completion by spring of 1984.
3. Storage Facilities
The City currently has available two raw water storage facilities which

10
