The dam has been owned by the City since 1955 but is currently
leased to private individuals for use. On May 5, 1984 the dam was inspected by

the Office of the State Engineer, Division of Water Resources, and was found to

be structurally unsatisfactory. In assessment of maintenance and minor repair

was rated as unacceptable (see appendix for full report). As a result of this
inspection, a storage pool restriction was imposed on the area to four feet
below the crest. The dam was inspected again in August, 1985 and the
restriction was increased to eight feet below the crest. In its current
condition, the dam is unsafe and the Office of the State Engineer could order
the reservoir drained in the near future. A summary of the existing features
of Reeder Reservoir are shown in Table 4-1.

TABLE 4-1

SUMMARY OF EXISTING REEDER RESERVOIR CHARACTERISTICS

Top of Dam Elevation
Crest Length
Dam Height
Normal Pool Elevation
Normal Pool Storage
Principal Outlet Works
Emergency Spillway

Normal Pool Surface Area
Hazard Classification
Structural Rating
Maintenance Rating

5694'
700'
25'
5690'
70 Acre Ft.
8" CIP
Grassed Over Flow
in Dam Crest (250' in length)
16.25 Acres
Class I (Low Hazard)
Unsatisfactory
Unacceptab le

4-1
