<br />this State, the contractur shall, b~fore entering upon the performance of .my such work included in this contr.lct,
<br />duly execute and deliver to and file with the official whose signature apllears below for the State. a good and
<br />sufficient bond to be approved by said official in a penal sum 1I0t less thall one-half of the tolal amount payable
<br />by the terms of this contrac!. Such bond shall be duly executed by a qualified COrporate surety, conditioned fur the

<br />4. Except as otherwise provided by law, if this conlract provides for the payment of mote than five thousand
<br />dollars and require~ or involves the employment of laborer:. or mechanics in the construction, alh:ralion or repair of
<br />any building or other public work, (except highways, highway bridges, undcrp'l~ses alld highway structures of all
<br />kinds) within the geographical limits of the St:lh~, the rail' of wage for all laborers and mechanics employed by the
<br />contractor or any subcontractor on the building or Ilublic work covered by this coutract shall he nut less than the
<br />prevailing rate of wages for work of a similar nature in the city, town, village or Other civil subdivisioll of the State in
