I
I
I

I

Reservoir water from the Battlement Reservoirs, Basin Reservoirs,
and the Granby System is picked up at the Dirty George Creek
Headgate at various times of the year. The water stored in the
Granby System and in the Battlement Reservoirs is of higher quality
compared to water stored in other reservoirs owned by the City.
Granby water is used during the summer when other flow rights are cut
off. The Basin Reservoirs leak and don't always fill even after
warmer temperatures in the spring begin to melt snow accumulated in
the reservoir drainage areas. Water in both Basin Reservoirs are
therefore drained and picked up at the Dirty George Creek Headgate
early in the season after spring runoff stops. Storage water in the
Battlement Reservoirs is often released during the winter prior to
spring runoff.

I

I

I

I

Flows in Kelly Creek are usually picked up under the City's
water rights during the non-irrigation season due to use of the
available water for irrigation by other users with prior decrees.
Water stored in Clark Reservoir may be released into Camp Creek and
then picked up in the Hoosier and Delta County Ditch which will
convey the water into the White Stabilization Reservoir. Clark
Reservoir water is usually credited as being used on the City Ranch
for irrigation purposes. The Porter Reservoir No.1, Porter Reservoir
No.4, Dugger Reservoir, and Morris Reservoir are at the headwaters
of Oak Creek, and water released from these reservoirs for use by the
City must be picked up in the Hoosier and Delta County Ditch for
conveyance into the White Stabilization Reservoir. The use of water
stored in these reservoirs for municipal purposes is therefore only
possible in the summer and fall when the ditch is not frozen. These
reservoirs are primarily used for irrigation on the City Ranch.
With the construction of the Oak Creek Pipeline, this water in the
future could be diverted directly to the Dirty George Creek Aqueduct
from Oak Creek.

I

I

I

I

I

I

Water stored in the Pitcairn Reservoir is used as soon as
possible after spring runoff since the dam leaks and water quality
has a tendency to deteriorate if kept over the summer. Pitcairn
water is released into East Doughspoon Creek and picked up at
an intake on the Doughspoon Aqueduct.

I

The Doughspoon Reservoir loses a lot of water and any water
collected there is used almost as soon as it is available, usually
from April through October. Water in the Burnett Reservoir is
also used as available, usually from about April through August.

I

I

I

I

III - 29

I
