The winter recommendation was further reduced to 0.9 cfs from October 15th -
April 30th due to water availability concerns.

Precipitation Data
Staff reviewed local precipitation data sets from 2 different sites located around Swamp Canyon
Creek Drainage (see Precipitation Data in Appendix C). These sites include Telluride (1900-
1999) and Ames (1914-1986). Table 3 shows the water year and the percent of average
precipitation recorded at each site.

T bl 3 P

't t D t

t

fA

a e reClpl a Ion a a as a percen age 0 verage.
Water Year Telluride Ames
1959 96% 88 %
1960 90% 91 %
1961 127 % 109 %
1962 85 % 88 %
1963 117% 97%
1964 117% 81 %
1965 139% 139%

Table 3 shows a slight variation of precipitation between the two relatively close precipitation
sites, It is staffs opinion that the seven years of stream-flow data analyzed is representative of
average to slightly above average water-years.

Existing Water Right Information

Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and consulted with the Division Engineer Office to
identify any potential water availability problems. There are no decreed surface diversion within
this reach of stream. Based on this analysis staff has determined that water is available for
appropriation on Swamp Canyon Creek, from its headwaters to the diversion point on Swamp
