.

.

.

Existing Water Right Information

Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and consulted with the Division Engineer Office to
identify any potential water availability problems. There is one decreed surface diversion, Blue
Creek Ditch, within the upper reach of stream. Based on this analysis staff has determined that
more water is available for appropriation on Blue Creek, between the Massey Branch and
Calamity Branch segment than is available for the Calamity Baranch and the Tom Watkins Ditch
segment. Staff feels there is still enough water available to preserve the natural environment to a
reasonable degree without limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights for
each segment.

CWCS Staff's Instream Flow Recommendation
Staff recommends the Board form its intent to appropriate on the following stream reach:

Segment: confluence Massey Branch to Calamity Creek

Upper Terminus: Massey Branch at
(Latitude 380 36' 50") (Longitude 108044' 29")
Lower Terminus: Calamity Creek at
(Latitude 380 32' 06") (Longitude 1080 50' 02")
Counties: Mesa
Length: 8.8 miles
USGS Quad(s): Uncompahgre Butte, Calamity Mesa
Flow Recommendation: 2.1 cfs (3/15 - 4/14)
5.5 cfs (4/15 - 5/14)
2.1 cfs (5/15 - 6/14)
0.5 cfs (6/15 - 3/14)

Segment: Calamity Creek to Tom Watkins Headgate

Upper Terminus: Calamity Creek at
(Latitude 380 32' 06") (Longitude 1080 50' 02")
Lower Terminus: Tom Watkins Headgate at
(Latitude 380 32' 12") (Longitude 108052' 27")
Counties: Mesa
Length: 3.0 miles
USGS Quad(s): Calamity Mesa
Flow Recommendation: 1.0 cfs (3/15 - 4/14)
3.5 cfs (4/15 - 5/14)
1.0 cfs (5/15 - 6/14)
0.5 cfs (6/15 - 3/14)

- 8 -
