Subiect:

"Instruction Manual for Site Drainage Computer Model - Rocky Flats Plant,
Golden, Colorado." Lee Wan and Associates. February 13, 1987.

This Rocky Flats Plant site drainage system analysis was done for Rockwell International.
The purpose of the study was two-fold: (1) to establish a TR-20 computer model of the
existing storm drainage system at Rocky Flats, and (2) to analyze the adequacy of the
existing drainage system for the 25-year design storm. Woman Creek and Walnut Creek
were modelled from the headwaters to Indiana Street.

Limitations

1. Analyses were limited to those based on the 25-year, I-hour storm frequency.

2. A summary of discharges is not provided.

3. The study does not incorporate accepted practices and policies for drainage
and flood control of the Denver metro area. Functioning of a master drainage
system is not addressed.

Data Included

1. Detailed mapping (1"=200' reduced to 1"=600') of the Woman Creek and
Walnut Creek drainage basins with delineation of approximately 150 sub-
basins is provided in the document on Sl;"x 11" sheets.

2. Line diagrams for the drainage system are presented in the document. These
contain basin information of drainage areas, time of concentration and curve
number. They also contain culvert/storm sewer information of size, length,
and invert and outlet elevations. The culvert/storm sewer information is
reportedly more comprehensive than that available from the site utility
drawings (Le., this information should be considered more reliable).

3. Flows calculated by the model are provided only in the computer output.

4. The 25-year, I-hour design storm precipitation distribution based on the
UDFCD Manual is presented in Table 4.1 of the document.

5.

The existing storm drainage system is adequate for the 25-year flood event
with the following exceptions: (1) The storm drains around Building 460, (2)
the 1,200 foot long by 72-inch diameter storm sewer under parking area 771,
and (3) the 1,400 foot long by 42-inch diameter A-Series ponds bypass.

6.

Schematic diagrams of the surface drainage system and pond operations are
provided in the document.
