7. SPECIFICATION STATEMENTS
Table 2 shows the use of specification statements in the sub-
programs of HEC-2. Check marks in the table indicate which subprograms
utilize each of the various types of specification statements.
Users of IBM and other small word machine (32 bits or less)
should activate the DOUBLE PRECISION statements in"the subprograms
checked in the table. Instructions on activating the DOUBLE PRECISION
statement follow in paragraph 8. page 27.
The table indicates which subprograms utilize the blank COMMON
area. Blank COMMON variables are arranged alphabetically in two
groups. The first group consists of the unlabeled COMMON arrays.
The second group contains the unlabeled single dimensioned (or simple)
COMMON variables. Subprograms FLODIS and XSEC utilize only the array
COMMON group. FLDHAZ and SUMPO each redefine the blank COMMON in
independent configurations. Each of the other checked subprograms
utilize both the array and simple COMMON variable groups.
Subprograms MAPIT. SAVEIT, and QVAR. (added to HEC-2 in Modifica-
tion 51) utilize an independent configuration of blank COMMON con-
sisting of both simple and arrayed variables.
The utilization of labeled COMMON blocks "DOUBLE. "CONTROL"
and "NAMES" is also indicated in Table 2.

23
