Subprogram CARD initializes values read on cards NC, QT, NV,
NH, ET, Xl, X2, X3, X4, CI, and BT. It also makes various
checks on the data and initializes data in case the X2, X3,
and X4 cards are not read.

Subprogram CHIMP determines the ground profile coordinates
(EL and STA) that result from a trapezoidal excavation
(based on CI card) of a natural cross section. It also
determines new bank stations (STCHL and STCHR) that fall
outside the natural bank stations.

Subprogram DC2 determines the critical depth for any cross
section if the computed depth is close to critical depth.
The critical depth is based on finding the depth associated
with the minimum energy (depth plus velocity head). An
optimization process based on a parabolic interpolation is
used to find the minimum energy.

Subprogram DONE is an end job processor that also copies
cross section plots to the printer when all profiles are
completed.

Subprogram FLDHAZ computes length weighted average differences
between 10 and 100-year flood profiles. It also uses the
computed differences to determine flood hazard factors and
flood insurance zones that meet the Federal Insurance Adminstra-
tion criteria.

Subprogram FLODIS prints out, when requested by input, the
flow distribution for all or selected cross sections. The
printout includes the horizontal stations and the percentage
of flow area and velocity within each subarea. The subareas
are determined for each point in the cross section if the
number of subareas in the overbank is less than 11; otherwise
the subareas are selected to contain at least 3 percent of
the flow.

FUNCTION NEAR is a logical function which returns a true
(logical) answer when two variables are within a specified
tolerance of each other.

Subprogram PRIAH prints cross section and profile number
headings for interactive application.

Subprogram PROF plots the profiles for the ground, water
surface, critical depth, energy elevation, left bank, right
bank, and minimum end station elevation.

2See "Critical Water Surface by Minimum Specific Energy Using
the Parabolic Method" by Bill S.
