A good preventive flood plain management
program in this area can be effective in keeping the flood damage potential from
i ncreas i ng.
Flood Plain and F100dway Data
The limits of flooding for the 100-year flood and the cross sections
utilized in the hydraulic computations are depicted on the attached Flood
Hazard Area Delineation maps. Discharges and water surface elevations for
each cross section are listed in Table 3.
The f100dway is that portion of the channel and adjacent flood plain which
must be left unobstructed in order to pass the 100-year flood without raising
the water surface profile more than an acceptable amount. F100dways will be
determined by the Omaha District, Corps of Engineers at a future date. F100dway
information, when completed, will be available from the Urban Drainage and Flood
Control District.

Chambers Road. Upstream from Colfax Avenue, a good preventive flood plain
management program can insure that the flood damage potential will not be
increased.

- REFERENCES -

-SUMMARY-

1. The flood discharges are based on a

future basin population of 600,000 people. The water surface elevations and flood

outlines are based on existing channel conditions and assumed partial debris block-

age of bridges and culverts. This report also contains additional hydrologic

data for the 2-, 5-" 10-, 25-, 50-, 100- and 500-year floods for present and two

future basin conditions.

The potential flood damages are primarily located dbwnstreamfrom Colfax

Avenue. The majority of this damage potential lies between Dahlia Street and
