No. 100 <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />March 16, 1978 <br /> <br />R <br /> <br />E <br /> <br />SOL U <br />- - - - <br /> <br />T I <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a floodplain information report entitled "Special <br />Flood Hazard Information, Arkansas River,Anderson & King Arroyos, <br />La Junta, Otero County, Colorado," dated August, 1977, has been pre- <br />pared by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Albuquerque <br />District, at the request of Otero County; and ' <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outlines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels or <br />basins of the study area; and <br /> <br />,~REAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Otero County <br />has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and <br />approve the floodplain areas as set forth in the aforesaid report; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973, requires the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in the <br />prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local juris- <br />dictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation <br />and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1) (c), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />1973,directs the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and <br />approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make <br />such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdic- <br />tions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report <br />and does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas <br />inundated by a 100-year flood (i,Il1;E!:qn.!'!Ai.a.1::E:U..~:LQIl?LflQQd)as.de-, . <br />scrlbE!a by' the'f1oodwa.'ter' surface elevations and profiles in said <br />report; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water Conser- <br />vation Board in regular meeting assembled in Denver, Colorado, this <br />,16th day of ~~rch, 1978, that it does hereby designate and approve <br />, <br />
