<br />T he record rainfall amounts from Hurricanes
<br />Dennis and Floyd led to widespread and pro-
<br />longed flooding in eastern North Carolina. With
<br />the exception of the Lumber River Basin, all of
<br />the major river basins in eastern North Carolina
<br />experienced flooding at the 500-year recurrence
<br />interval (table 3; fig. 7).
