<br />Auqust 4. 1982. Torrential rains occurred in Colorado Springs. <br />The city sustained $400,000 damage to public property including <br />drainage systems. One home was severely water damaged in the <br />city's northeast area. Associated streams are unknown (Novak, <br />1986). <br /> <br />Ju1v 31. 1976. This date is famous for the Big Thompson Flood <br />which occurred in northern Colorado. Minor flooding also <br />occurred in Colorado Springs. Specific districts and associated <br />streams are unknown (Novak, 1986). <br /> <br />Julv 23, 1975. Flooding occurred on Sand Creek inundating roads <br />in the area and causing some structural damage. Water rose to <br />4.5 feet deep on Jimmy Camp Creek. In the Peaceful Valley Golf <br />Course area, no roads were damaged; however, the golf course was <br />buried in sand deposited by floodwaters (Novak, 1986). <br /> <br />Julv 24-25. 1970. Flooding occurred on Sand Creek after the area <br />received 1.24 inches of precipitation in a two hour period. In <br />the Keller Road area, roads and bridges were badly damaged, and <br />an aqua bridge was destroyed. sections of Powers Boulevard <br />washed out, and Fountain Boulevard sustained shoulder damage. <br />One life was lost (Gruntfest and Huber, 1985). <br /> <br />On Jimmy Camp Creek water was seven feet deep and washed out <br />some roads. Northeast Colorado Springs received rainfall <br />estimated in excess of three inches although no flooding is <br />documented (Novak, 1986). <br /> <br />Julv 24. 1964. Flash <br />Range. Agricultural land and stock water <br />dams reportedly sustained heavy damage.
