WATER <br />CONSERVATION BOARD <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />c/o Gene Jencsok <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />This letter is a request from the County of Summit for your agency to designate <br />and approve as Intermediate Regional Floodplain Areas (lOO-year floodplains), <br />those areas as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in <br />a report entitled "Flood Insurance Study, Summit County, Colorado, Unincorporated <br />Areas," prepared by Gingery Associates, Inc. under contract with the Federal <br />Insurance Administration, dated June 1980. <br /> <br />The above Report inCludes detailed floodplain information and data for portions <br />of the Blue River, Willow Cree~, Straight Creek, Ten Mile Creek, Snake River, <br />Soda Creek, and Meadow Creek. In addition, the Report includes approximate <br />100-year floodplains for the following streams: <br /> <br />Blue River <br />Slate Creek <br />Big Gulch <br />North Rock Creek <br />Pebble Creek <br />Saltlick Gulch <br />Other unnamed tributaries <br /> <br />Meadow Creek <br />North Ten Mile Creek <br />Ten Mile Creek <br />Soda Creek <br />Snake River <br />South Barton Gulch <br /> <br />Middle Barton Gulch <br />North Barton Gulch <br />Swan River <br />Illinois Gulch <br />French Gulch <br />Sawmill Gulch <br /> <br />The County will regulate the storm and floodwater runoff channels (Zone A) for those <br />areas depicted in the above Report as approximate 100-year floodplains on a case-by- <br />case basis subject to a detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis by a professional <br />eng1.neeT' . <br /> <br />In that Section 30-28-lllC.R.S. 1973 requires such designation and approval by the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board prior to County floodplain restrictions in our <br />Zoning Resolutions, we respectfully request your assistance in this matter. <br /> <br />S~~ <br /> <br />~.~nvand, Chairman <br />) Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />/daa <br /> <br />SUMMIT COUNTY GOVERNMENT, POST OFFICE BOX 68, BRECKENRIDGE, COLORADO 80424. 303-453-2561 <br />
