Colorado. <br />The report will aid inplanningth~bestuS(lof <br />lands subject to inundation from IOO-and500- <br /> <br />year floods. However. it does not contain <br />recommendations for solving flood problems <br />or plans for use of flood plain areas because <br />these activities are the respon,ibilitiesofl<lCal <br />governments. <br /> <br />LIMITS OF STUDY <br /> <br />The report NVers the Colorado River from <br />22 Road upstream 0032 Road and the lower <br />reaches of the Gunnison River. Leach Creek. <br />Horizon Drive Channel. and Lewis Wash in <br />and around Grand Junction. The Gunnison <br />River. Leach Creek, and Lewis Wash lire <br />direct tributaries to the Colorado River. <br />Horizon Drive Channel flows throulI:h the <br /> <br />northern portion of the elt).. It becomes <br />Independent Ranchmens Ditch in the vicinity <br />of Gra.nd ValleyCana\. The Colorado River is <br />the only other stream underSludy to enter the <br />city. passingthroughthcwcsternsecOOr. Piate <br />1 is a. general map of the area.
