INTRODUCTION

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF REPORT
The purpose of this report is to describe
and illustrate the nood ha~ard in the vicinity
of Grand Junction, Mesa County. Colorado.
The report will aid inplanningth~bestuS(lof
lands subject to inundation from IOO-and500-

year floods. However. it does not contain
recommendations for solving flood problems
or plans for use of flood plain areas because
these activities are the respon,ibilitiesofl<lCal
governments.

LIMITS OF STUDY

The report NVers the Colorado River from
22 Road upstream 0032 Road and the lower
reaches of the Gunnison River. Leach Creek.
Horizon Drive Channel. and Lewis Wash in
and around Grand Junction. The Gunnison
River. Leach Creek, and Lewis Wash lire
direct tributaries to the Colorado River.

Independent Ranchmens Ditch in the vicinity
