There is ample public Information on safety for all types of disasters, however, if it isn't
disseminated, it doesn't exist. Project Impact thus brought forth a Public Information
Network Committee. The obiective is to disseminate with a domino effect. the Proiect
Imoact concept about the necessity for hazard mitiQation and emerQency preparedness.
In doing so, the desired result is to benefit the community by rewarding them with a higher
level of awareness, which brings about a partnership that creates a safer community.
Other possible benefits for their commitment would be qualifying for reduced residential
and business insurance rates depending on the application.
. The Colorado Water Conservation Board has pledged technical and some financial
support for printing costs and public training on fIoodproofing.
. Public Service has shown much interest in the generator hook up brochure
developed by the Montana Project Impact Community. They feel it is the answer
to eliminating the hazard risk associated in self installation here in Colorado.

Projects from the five hazard sub-topics mentioned above have been preliminarily
drafted. Once final drafts are completed, each will be reviewed, adopted and incorporated
into the hazard mitigation section of the new Clear Creek County Master Plan of 1999.

The EWS and Public Information Network projects are instrumental and supportive of
master planning. As growth continues, modification and upgrades will be necessary to
match the demand for information and early warning. The aspect of future planning has
been included in the overall development of these two areas.

The flood mitigation hard projects may commence prior the completion of "Master Plan
'99, due to the urgent status of some flood prevention needed by spring. On Virginia
Canyon Road the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is involved in on-going projects
that will overlap. It is imperative to take advantage of EPA's time frame on their projects
to properly integrate the two.

5
