Recommend
that you investigate other flood control measures such as upstream
diversion and detention storage. The Railroad wishes to cooperate'
with local and state officials considering proposals that would be
beneficial to both the City of pierce and the Railroad. One
potential solution to the city I s flooding, is to divert flood
water eastward under the Railroad, north of Pierce, by way of a
new drainage structure. In the event that the city wishes to
pursue this course of action, please submit the City I S proposal
wi th its funding scheme to this office for further engineering
review.

As information for
shall be sized to conform to
requirements which:

1. Ensures that water does not rise above the low ~ord
of bridge stringers for the 50 year storm event;

the city, new drainage structures
the Railroad's hydrology/hydraulic

2. Ensures that water does not overtop the Railroad
subgrade, which is 2'-3" below the base of rail, or
damage upstream property in the 100 year event;

- La.\rY.j' P.~r'i 6 f'),' -
