<br />SOURCES OF DATA <br /> <br />T~anapo~tation facilities in the area of study include <br />Inte~9tate Highway 25, U.S. Highway 160, Colorado State Highway <br />10 and 69, numeroua county ~oads and city streets and the COlorado <br />& Southern Railroad. <br />The population of Huerfano County has been declining since <br />the 1920's when coal production began to decline. The 1960 popula- <br />tion of Huerfano County was 7,867 and by 1970 it had declined to <br />6,590. walsenburg's population in 1960 was 5,071 and had deClined <br />to 4,329 in 1970. A recent Existing Land Use Inventory for Huerfano~ <br />Las Animas Counties repo~ts the population trend will continue to de~ <br />cline through 1980. <br /> <br />Topogr<>phicallIIa.l>sof the study ared_re compiled by <br />photogriU'llmetric ",ethods frOltl aerial photographs taken in November <br />1975.
