INTERPRETATION OF DATA

Flooded area mapa, profiles, and selected cross sections
are provided in the report to define the limits of flooding that
would occur during a lOO-year flood or SOO_yearflood. lIypotheti-
cal ....arnpl..s of th..se presentations, depicting the areal Unlit" and
elevations of the respectiv.. future floods at an imaginary location,
are shown on the following page.
The lateral limits of flooding from the lOo-year flood
are shown by the blue. shaded area; crossing this area, the ~avy
elevation lines represent water surface contours at S-foot inter-

vals; and the solid blue area indicates the additional area that
would be inundated by the SOo-year flood. The flood profile shows
the relative depth of flood~dters along the centerline of the stream.
The cross section cx~le indicates the depth and lateral extent of
flooding that would occUr at t~e specified crosS section; other
information on floodflow depths at. the location of tile cross section
is tabulated belo~. Similar data can be developed for any flood
plain location in the study reach considered In this report.
