Las Animas. CoZoro.dt:J. and Vicinity. dated <br />May 11, 1965. <br /> <br />Location <br /> <br />Las Animas, Colorado, is located on the right bank of the <br />Arkansas River at river mile 1,176.8 about 18 miles upstream from <br />John Martin Dam. A levee about 10 miles long would provide flood <br />protection along the right bank; while a levee about one mile long <br />would provide protection for the left bank. The floodway formed by <br />the levees would vary in width from 1,600 to 2,900 feet. <br /> <br />.
