WHEREAS, a report ent:ltled "Flood Insurance S,tudy,Mesa
County, Colorado," whichincludElS floodplain information and data
for West Creek at Gateway, Colorado, dated January, 1978, has been
prepared by the united states Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento
District, under contract with the Federal Insurance Administration;
and

WHEREAS, said report Qescribes and outlines the floodplain
data and information for the storm and floodwater runoff channels
or basins of the study area; anQ .

WHEREAS, Mesa county nas requested the colorado Water
conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areas
as set forth in the aforesaid r~port; and

WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes
1973, requires the Colorado wat~r Conservation Board to assist in
the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and

WHEREAS, Sections 31-~3-20l and 30-28-111, colorado
Revised Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local
jurisdictions may provide zonins regulations for land uses on or
along any storm or floodwater rUnoff channel or .basin only after
designation and approval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board;
and

WHEREAS, section 37-60-106(1) (c), . Colorado Revised
Statutes 1973, directs the Colorado Water conservation Board to
designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff cnannels ~rbasins
and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of
local jurisdictions; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the BOard has reviewed said report
aud. does hereby recorr~end to tha Colorado' Water conservation Board
.that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas
inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flo~d) as
described by the floodwater s~rface elevations and profiles in said
report;

NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Colorado Water
conservation Board in regular meeting assembled in Montrose, Colo-
'rado, this 12th day of May, 1978, thaI: it does hereby designate
and approve as floodpiain areas those areas described as being
inundated by a 100-year flood as set forth in said report; and
