MITIGATING FLOOD HAZARDS <br />(Time to complete this task: 30 minutes) <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />Identify and describe high-priority actions to include in a flood hazard mitigation plan, <br />drawing on the entries on Handout 4. Recommended Actions 'and major points from <br />working Tasks A - K. <br /> <br />Materials <br /> <br />· Base map with information from Tasks A-K and all handouts <br />· Handout Ll. High-Priority Action to Reduce Flood Risk <br />· Handout L2. Contacts for Technical and Financial Assistance <br /> <br />Steps <br /> <br />1. Listen to your recorder recap the actions listed on Handout 4. Recommended Actions. <br />Discuss the actions and make changes in the list as needed. Then, check the actions <br />you decide are high-priority needs to reduce flood risk or the burdens of recovery. <br />Be sure to check at least 5 actions. <br /> <br />2. For each checked action, fill out a copy of Handout Ll. High-Priority Action to Reduce <br />Flood Risk, indicating who should be responsible for carrying out the action, who <br />should be involved in the decisions, resources needed and available to accomplish it, <br />and when it should be started and completed. <br /> <br />3. Seek information from those present at the exercise to fill out Handout L2. Contacts <br />for Technical and Financial Assistance. <br /> <br />Products <br /> <br />· Handout 4.
