TEMPORARY BUSINESS LOCATIONS <br />(Time to complete this task: 15 minutes) <br /> <br />Purpose <br /> <br />Provide sites and facilities for business operations until damaged commercial buildings <br />can be repaired or replaced. <br /> <br />Materials <br /> <br />. Handout F. Damage Assessment <br />· Base map with information from Tasks A-F <br />· Redevelopment or downtown plan <br />· Zoning map <br /> <br />Steps <br /> <br />1. Assume that several small businesses have been flooded and the buildings cannot be <br />immediately reoccupied after the flood. Select vacant facilities suitable as temporary <br />business locations, if available. Also select suitable sites for temporary commercial <br />structures. Look for vacant and available sites that are accessible and close to the <br />pre-flood location of displaced businesses. The sites should have utilities available, <br />and plenty of parking. Outline the facilities and sites in brown on the base map. <br /> <br />2. Could the businesses in your community be better prepared to survive a flood? On <br />Handout 4.
