<br />Division II, Part 5 <br /> <br />Construction Details - Incidentals <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />SECTI05 10 - RIPRAP <br /> <br />10-1 Description <br /> <br />This work consists of furnishing all plant, labor, equipment, and <br />materials and performill8 all work necessary to place a protective <br />covering of erosion-resistant material on the slopes of embankments, <br />dikes, or streambanks, at culvert inlets and outlets, on bottoms and side <br />slopes of channels, at abutment wings, at structure toundations, at other <br />locations shown on the plsns, or as directed by the engineer. The work <br />shall be done in accordance with these specifications and applicable <br />special provisions and in conformity with the lines and grades shown on <br />the plans or established by the engineer. <br /> <br />The types of riprap included in this specitication are: <br /> <br />'- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />10-1.1 - Dumped Riprap -- Dumped riprap consists at stone or broken <br />concrete dumped in place on a filter blanket or prepared slope to tom a <br />well-graded mass with a minimum at voids. <br /> <br />10-1.2 - Wire-Enclosed R!prap -- Wire-enclosed riprap consists of . <br />mats or baskets fabricated from wire mesh, filled with stone, con- <br />nected together and anchored to the slope. Details of construction may <br />differ depending upon the degree at exposure and the service, whether used <br />for revetment c>>- used as a toe protection for other types of riprap. <br /> <br />10-1.3 - Grouted Riprap -- Grouted riprap consista at riprap with all <br />or part of the interstices tilled with portland cement mortar. <br /> <br />10-1.4 - Concrete Riprap in Bags -- Concrete riprap in begs consists <br />ot concrete in cement sacks or sui table burlap bags. <br /> <br />10-1.5 - Concrete-Slab Riprap -- Concrete-slab riprap consists of <br />concrete, plain or reinforced, poured in place or precast concrete blocks. <br /> <br />10-1.6 - Filter Blanket -- A tilter blanket consists of one or more ~ <br />layers of graded material placed on the bank before placing the riprap in <br />order to prevent the bank material from passing through the riprap protec- <br />tion.
