The use of the GPS surveying: for river reaches need to be in moderately clear areas <br />with little canopy cover for the greatest accuracy. When surveying the river reach more cross- <br />sections should be taken when the river reach has high sinuous stretches. This will allow HEC- <br />RAS to create water surface profiles thai match the sinuosity of the river and the ArcView map <br />will have higher accuracy. The cross-sections should be extended for surveying purposes so the <br />exact flood plain will be delineated. Another recommendation would be to work with James <br />Doan. the developer of the HEC-GeoHMS ArcView extension to detennine the source of the <br />Segmentation Violation described above. This would allow for a better completion of a <br />rainfalVrunoff model. <br />
