I. INTRODUCTION AND LOCATION

L.

This report presents the results of the Phase A portion of a
Flood Plain Information Study in and adjacent to the Town of Yuma,
Colorado. The Phase A portion of the study included mapping, definition
of drainage basin parameters, basic hydrol09Y, and finally definition of
runoff hydrographs at key points within the basin. The Phase B portion
of the study, if authorized, would consist of hydraulic-backwater analysis
and flood plain delineation for the 10 year and 100 year recurrence
interval storms.
The contract between Hydro-Triad, Ltd. and the Town of Yuma for
the performance of the study as described in detail within the scope
of work was signed on July 12, 1976.
Yuma, Colorado is located in northeastern Colorado in Yuma County
approximately 37 miles west-northwest of the point where Kansas, Nebraska
and Colorado meet. More specifically, Yuma is located 7~ minutes north
of the 40th parallel and 42~ minutes west of the 102nd meridian in
Township 2N, R48W. Yuma lies at the headwaters of the Republican River
basin which flows easterly out of Colorado.
The Town of Yuma has a population of approximately 2500 people and
can be characterized as having an agriculturally-oriented economy.

-1-
