Considering the ineODlpleteness of the returned questionnaires

and based upon the sOattered locations of the properties reporting

flood dame.ges. it appears that a detailed investigaUon of the entire

area, to :i:nolude all forms e,f da,jnages, might disclose a larger total

and a larger average annual damage than i,s shown in the above table.

5. FLOOD PREVENTION MEASURES
AS SUGGESTED BY Q~STIONNAl:RE STATEl!!~

A total of twenty-seven suggestions were ml~de by residents of

the Pieroe area as to measures for the prevention oj~ flood damages.

Seventeen of theSe involved the :Laramie-Poudre Canal. Nine residents

suggested enlarging the Laramie-?oudre Ditoh throughout its length to
the MoGrew Reservoir in order to carry the flood wa1;er of Spring Creek
oompletely away from the valley e.nd from the vicinity of Pierce. Seven

persons suggested using the I.arantie-Poudre Ditch vd1;h Spillways con-

struoted in its lower banks I>t I>l1 natural water courses in order to

avoid oonoentration of flood flowS. One suggested. cleaning and enlarg-

ing the Laramie-Poudre Ditoh as far as Lone Tree Creek.
