<br />7. l'RECIPITATION DATA <br />- - <br /> <br />There are no precipitation records published by the U. S. <br /> <br />Weather Bureau for stations within the area under investigatiO;l. The <br /> <br />nearest point for which records j1ave been published are at Greeley, <br /> <br />about 1, miles South of Pier'ce, ll-nd at Gr(jver, aboU'b 30 miles North- <br /> <br />east of Pierce. <br /> <br />HOV/llver, a record of rlillfall at Nunn, Coloirado, for the year <br /> <br />1925-1938 'Was compiled and furnished by Mr. J. A. TI~rner. Records were <br /> <br />also obtained from the Great Western Sugar- Company Iltations at Eaton, <br />Colorado and at a fam 2-1/2 miles East and one ml.1EI Soutl1 of Pieroe, <br />Colorado. A rain gage is also being maintained by i;he Town of Ault, <br /> <br />observations being made by the Tow.n Clerk. Copies elf these several <br /> <br />records were made for the yel~rs 1934-1938. Exhibit 8 (a) :Ls a de- <br />scription of the several rain ga~s above mentioned. Exhibit 8 (b) is <br />a precipitation record at Pioroe and Eaton for 1934; Exhibit 8 (c) is <br />the record at Nunn~ Pierce, Au1t and Eaton for the y'ear 1935, w.l.th <br />certain daily values during 1;he month of May; Exhibit 8 (d) relates <br />to the year 1936; 8 (e) to the year 1937; and 8 (f) to the year 1938, <br />w.l.th daily values for portions of the moni;h of September. <br />No reliable observations or records of intensity of rainfall <br /> <br />could be obtained. The grea'l~st wnount of rainfall observed in any <br />one day of 1935 occurred May 30, 1935. when 4.62 i:no:l1es was reported <br />at the Nunn Station. On this same day the record at Pieroe shows 0.38 <br /> <br />inches and at Ault 0.25 inohes, indioating,s. wide va:riation in rain- <br /> <br />fall intensities over relatively :lhort distanoes. <br /> <br />-7- <br />
